At one point around 1995, I gave myself a simple but impossible assignment: paint a portrait of everyone I knew. The basic guidelines were as follows: the pose was a straight-forward mug shot – no fancy settings. Size was a standard 22 x 30 inch sheet of paper (except as noted). Some of these were paintings, some ended up drawings. I did give myself permission to exclude anyone I decided i didn’t want to deal with, but other than that…
I’ve slowed down a little, but I’m still working on these. They are presented in roughly chronological order. BTW – my good friend Leo Wesson shot most of these (that’s why they look so darned good).
