Little did I realize that everyone’s plans for 2020 would take a drastic turn thanks to the Coronavirus Pandemic.
I’d been accepted in a couple of shows this spring – one in Irving and one in San Antonio – which are not going to happen in the original venues. The San Antonio show is now going to be a virtual show; the Irving show is still sorting out what they are going to do. I was accepted for a solo show at the FWCAC in the fall, but at this point I don’t have a high degree of confidence that’s going to actually happen either. We’ll see…
Don’t misunderstand – I consider myself lucky in so many ways…I work in an industry where social distancing is the norm (corporate IT), and I can do pretty much everything remotely. I’ve been working from home for about a month and a half now, and was on furlough for 2 weeks (another week coming up next month).
The furloughs have given me a chance to work relatively uninterrupted, and do some things I might not ordinarily do, including a YouTube Virtual Studio Visit. Still – these are strange times.
I hope you are staying safe and healthy – so far we’ve managed to. Be sure to keep your hands washed, and wear a mask! And make art.
